ECLIPSE the Musical based off the book by Dalton Trumbo, locally written and arranged by Mr. Scott Betts.
Directed & Coordinated by Lana Rogal ~ November 4th at 2:00 and 7:00pm at The Avalon Theatre!
Concluding The Avalon Theatre’s year-long Centennial Celebration, Eclipse the Musical is a two-act musical composed and written by Grand Junction local Scott Betts and based on Dalton Trumbo’s controversial first novel, Eclipse (1935). Directed by Lana Leigh Rogal, it includes a 12-piece orchestra, 5 principal performers and an ensemble of about 20 local performers.
Eclipse is the story of Shale City (an analogue for Grand Junction) in the 1920’s and the rise and fall of local business leader John Abbott (based on real life Wm. Moyer). Thinly disguised, sometimes harsh portrayals and caricatures of other local residents of the time led Eclipse to become a scandalous addition to Grand Junction history almost a century ago.
Presented as the concluding event of The Avalon Centennial Celebration by The Avalon Theatre Foundation, Mesa County Historical Society with cooperation from the Mesa County Libraries Foundation.
